Chortle ("we", "our", or "us") is a household chore management app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Account information. When you create an account we collect:
Household and chore data. We store the chores, schedules, completions, and household membership records you create while using the app.
Device token. We store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token associated with your device to deliver push notification reminders you configure. This token changes periodically and is not used to identify you across apps.
Usage data. We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or advertising identifiers beyond what Firebase provides as part of its infrastructure. See Firebase's privacy disclosures for details on what Google collects at the platform level.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond operating the app.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the United States. Firebase uses industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your household's data is restricted by Firestore security rules so that only members of your household can read it.

Each provider's privacy policy governs their handling of data at the platform level.
Chortle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you may also have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR to access, correct, or restrict processing of your data. Contact us at the address below to exercise these rights.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and personal data are deleted immediately. Household chore records (which do not contain personal data after your account is removed) may persist as part of the household's shared history.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
